Internships are available in the Africa Center's Academic Affairs, Research, and Community and Alumni Affairs departments. The International Africa Reporter Intern will cover international content focused on continental Africa as their regular beat for Modern Treatise. This is a six-month, unpaid virtual internship. Deadline: Rolling until filled

Interns spend approximately 12 weeks working alongside leading experts in government and academia from all over the world. Brookings also offers students the opportunity to intern in departments such as communications, human resources and central operations management. The mission of the Internship Program is to provide students with a pre-professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work experience related to their field of study or career interest. Students engage in career exploration and development as well as learn new skills.

Hillel International awards the Jules and Gwen Knapp Campus Leadership Award annually to a full-time student seeking a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university who demonstrates extraordinary leadership abilities and has a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must self-identify as Jewish and commit to attending at least one Hillel event in the upcoming school year. Previous attendance at Hillel events is NOT a requirement for this scholarship. The John Lewis Young Leaders program is a year-long fellowship program to equip students with the necessary skills to become effective social justice and civic leaders. Throughout the course of the year, fellows engage their campus and local communities in human rights work through a capstone project. Applicants should be a student enrolled in a 2 or 4 year accredited program located in the United States. Preference given to students located in the southern and midwestern part of the US, students attending an HBCU, HSI, or HMSI; and/or students from marginalized communities.Fellows receive a $2,000 professional stipend, 1:1 mentorship, $1,000 in funding for events and activities related to the completion of their project, and other benefits. The Islamic Scholarship Fund aims to increase the number of Muslim policymakers and invest in the creation of positive and engaging stories about American Muslims. Scholarships range from $3,000-$10,000. Applicants must be Muslim or an active member of the Muslim community, enrolled full-time at an accredited university in the US, a junior or senior, studying an ISF-supported major, have a 3.0+ GPA, and be a US citizen/DACA recipient/permanent US resident. Deadline: March 22, 2024

The National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship Program offers competitive scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research. They will pay up to $20,000 per academic year in tuition, educational expenses, and reasonable living expenses to scholarship recipients. Scholarships are awarded for 1 year, and can be renewed for up to 4 years. Applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident, enrolled/accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited 4-year undergraduate institution located in the US, have a GPA of 3.3 or higher, and have 'Exceptional Financial Need' as certified by your undergraduate institution's financial aid office. RTI International seeks applicants for the Shelton Jones Statistical Internship within the Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences unit. The Internship honors the legacy of Shelton M. Jones, an RTI statistician whose career spanned over 35 years at RTI. This paid internship will take place June-August 2024. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This position is preferred to be based in RTP, NC; Chicago, or DC. Candidates must be US Citizens, currently enrolled junior or senior undergraduates or a recent graduate who will be within one-year postgraduation for the entirety of the internship placement. Candidates must have strong knowledge of statistical methods and theory and modeling and proficiency with programming languages (SAS, R) and Microsoft Office Suite. Deadline: Rolling

The RCC Fellowship Program is designed to identify students with a passion for environmental education, organizing, and advocacy and provide them with training, mentorship from RCC environmental staff, and financial support to do the valuable work they care about and become life-long advocates for the environment. Fellows also have the opportunity to publish and speak on behalf of the Council. $2,000 stipend provided. Deadline: March 1, 2024

The Congressional-Executive Commission on China is offering paid Fellowships to those with Bachelor’s degrees. Fellows are paid $18/hour. Fellows must be US citizens. Fellows should have completed at least some China-related coursework. It is also desirable that they have some background in human rights and/or rule of law issues within the CECC legislative mandate. Fellows should be able to read Chinese well enough to assist with research in newspapers, journals, and government documents. A highly competitive candidate will have lived/studied in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan. Deadline: February 15, 2024

The Omidyar Network Associate Program is a two-year program for early-career professionals during which time they research new areas of programmatic engagement, support programmatic portfolios and specific portfolio investments, collaborate with network partners, and engage with diverse voices on our issues. Candidates should have a passion to build more inclusive and equitable societies, 2-5 years relevant experience, excellent research, analysis, problem solving, and written communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, attention to detail and ability to track and execute multiple work streams at once, and a high degree of comfort with change and ambiguity. Associates must have US work authorization and not require sponsorship. Deadline: February 16, 2024

FEA invests in US undergraduates who are least likely to study abroad. They consider financial need, demographic factors, and academic plan and preparedness to decide scholarship recipients. Demographic factors that are considered include minority background, first-generation college student status, and community college experience. Candidates must be: US citizens or permanent residents, currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the US (graduate students are ineligible), and slated for a study abroad program that is eligible for credit at the student’s home institution and lasts at least 28 days in country/countries. Deadline: February 7, 2024

Formerly the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship, the program pays tribute to Frederick Douglass’ transformative experience visiting Ireland more than 175 years ago. Interns will spend June 14-August 10, 2024 participating in a work placement in an Irish organization and receiving academic credit while participating in a special exploration of the influence Daniel O’Connell had on Frederick Douglass. The award covers the full program cost, airfare, housing, field trips, and an academic course taught by CIEE. Meals and recreational activities are not covered. Applicants must be a current freshman, sophomore, or junior from an accredited institution, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and be a US citizen, national, or permanent resident. Pell-eligible preferred (not required). Deadline: February 1, 2024

US undergraduates looking to fund study abroad in world regions critical to US interests can look to the Boren Scholarship. Awards are determined by their duration abroad with special funding opportunities for STEM majors. Applicants must be US citizens at the time of the national application deadline, a high school graduate or have earned a GED, at least 18 years, planning an overseas program outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, and planning to study in a country of which they are not a citizen. Deadline: January 31, 2024
